Robert Beyus, Master Photographer

.

Bob Beyus

Bob Beyus has been in the "arts" for a long time.  Even though has talents vary between technical and artistic, he has been involved in capturing images for most of his adult life.  Whether it is still photographs or video, he has been capturing images for his own and others pleasure.

Bob started in radio, moved into television and video production, and mixed his still photography in as he went.  He moved into still photography full time in the early 1990s.  Ever Changing Images was made a full time business in 1995.

Bob's basic philosophy is to take beautiful pictures.  Sometimes they meet commercial criteria, sometimes they meet fine art criteria.  As far as he is concerned, as long as they are beautiful and make someone happy, then he has achieved his goals.  There has always been a bit of a disagreement on what the "right thing" is to do when it comes to presenting and selling his work; in the end, the product that sells and makes people happy is what he continues to produce.

Many of his pieces have been published - product catalogs, magazines, photography books, etc, and he has also won many ribbons, medals, and even a Silver Bowl - that was for the presentation of Race Rock Lighthouse, which you can see in the Gallery of Working Lights.

During the summer months, he is apt to travel New England to do some of the outdoor Art Shows.  In the heat of the summer, visions of skies are often hazy, so he doesn't bother taking seascapes and landscapes during those months.  He will, however, be more exclusive on what he seeks out for photographs.

No, Bob does not take pictures of people.  Weddings and portraiture has its own following of photographers.  Yes, he is capable to doing them, but he much prefers free lancing and getting his cameras out when he wants.  He has quite a variety of subjects - flowers, reptiles, birds, animals of all descriptions and sizes (mice & chipmunks to elephants, hippos, and giraffes) historical places, touristy places, the known and the not so known - hot-air balloons, bi-planes, WWII planes, trolleys and trains, a taxi or two - the list just keeps on from there.
